Adam Phillip Krieger, age 95, son of Peter and Anna Krieger, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2010. The youngest of nine siblings, Adam was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, on April 23, 1914. Due to hard economic times and the needs of a large farming family, Adam's formal education ended after 8th grade.
Although most of his younger years were spent in the Lincoln area, he later moved to Wheatland, Wyoming, where he met his wife to be, Emma Leinweber. They were married in Gering, Nebraska on November 17, 1937.
After WWII started, Adam joined the Army and was stationed for a time at Camp Hood, Texas.
Following the war, he and Emma moved to Wisconsin, where they settled on a 40-acre farm between Omro and Eureka. Adam worked as a machinist at Rockwell International for over 30 years and in the mid-1950's bought a house in Oshkosh.
After work, Adam could often be seen piloting his fishing boat along the Fox River to get to where the fish were biting. During the fall and winter months, Adam and Emma loved to bowl with their friends at Shoreview and won many trophies. Adam also enjoyed deer hunting and trap shooting. He was a long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Due to health issues, Adam spent his last years as a resident of Bethel Home.
Adam is survived by his wife, Emma; their one son, Gerald and his wife Kathy. They also have three wonderful grandchildren: Heather, Michael, and Aaron, from the marriage of their son to Marcie K. Krieger, formerly of Oshkosh. Adam's granddaughter, Heather married Jason Bostwick of Oshkosh and they have four children: Jacob, Noah, Isaac and Ben. Adam was also blessed with four other great-grandchildren: Issaiah, Aubrey, Kaitlyn and Jonathan Krieger, the children of Michael and Katie Krieger. He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews. To the best of our knowledge, Adam's brothers: John, Pete, Henry, Connie and Lawrence, and his sisters: Pauline, Mary and Neva all preceded him in death.
Funeral service for Adam will take place at 11:30 a.m. TODAY, Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Lake View Memorial Park Chapel. Please visit www.seefeldfuneral.com to send online condolences to the family.
