Agnes E. Nikolaus, age 92, died on Monday, November 8, 2004, at Bethel Home. She was born on May 17, 1912 in Glidden, Wisconsin to Frederick and Elsa (Engel) Hildebrandt. Agnes married Ferdinand Nikolaus on May 5, 1934 in Oshkosh and he preceded her in death on July 4, 1979.
Agnes was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. For many years, Agnes enjoyed wintering in Florida, traveling extensively, and particularly enjoyed cruises. She participated in many activities at the Oshkosh Senior Center.
She is survived by one daughter: Donna Lord of Oshkosh; one son: Daniel (Beverly) Nikolaus of Anaheim, California; three granddaughters: Ann (James) Herald of Rota, Spain; Suzanne Nikolaus of Bristow, Virginia; and Roxanne Nikolaus of Centreville, Virginia; three brothers: Lawrence (Alice) Hildebrandt of Glidden; Fred (Ruth) Hildebrandt of Glidden; and Elmer (Lucy) Hildebrandt of Albuquerque, New Mexico; four sisters: Lucille (Donald) Schinski of Oshkosh; Katherine (Donald) Schraufnagel of Madison; Edna Christensen of Morro Bay, California; and Adeline Lucas of Milwaukee; two stepsisters: Rose Schaber of Madison; and Marie Grossman of Bremerton, Washington; she is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Preceding Agnes in death were her husband, parents, her son James, her brothers Waldemar and Alfred Hildebrandt, her sisters Martha Meixensperger and Bertha Lindquist, her stepsisters Pauline Eichorn and Clara Grossman and her sons-in-law Wallace Lord and George Kilger.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 12, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, with Reverends Kathryn Schreitmueller and Donald Gauerke co-officiating. Burial will be at Lake View Memorial Park. Family and friends may call on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Peace Lutheran Church, Bethel Home or a charity of your choice. A special thank you is extended to all who cared for Agnes while she resided at Bethel Home and to Dr. Ringwala.
