Alfred H. "Fritz" Ryf Jr., age 91, of Oshkosh, died Wednesday morning, September 19, 2007 at Aurora Medical Center. He was born on March 17, 1916 in Neenah to Alfred and Emma (Studer) Ryf Sr. Alfred married Viola Baier on July 11, 1942 in Oshkosh and she preceded him in death on February 28, 2007.

Alfred was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, VFW, and DAV. He enjoyed playing Cribbage, throwing horseshoes, and his vegetable garden. Later, early morning walks and viewing nature at Park View Health Center, was a special time for Alfred. He was retired from Meritor Automotive as a machine operator in 1973. During WWII, Alfred served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include a daughter, Fay (Gary) Egnoski of Oshkosh; two sons, Bruce (Beverly) Ryf of Oshkosh, and Phillip (Kathy) Ryf of Green Bay; nine grandchildren: Ty Egnoski of Fond du Lac, Craig ( Alison) Egnoski, Becky (Michael) Hayes, Lisa (Tony) Carpenter, Nicholas Ryf, Kayla Ryf, and Amanda Ryf all of Oshkosh; Kalena Ryf of Green Bay, and Kara (Greg) Smith of San Antonio, Texas; and eight great-grandchildren, Colton, Kassidy, and Gracie May Hayes; Breanna, Kennedy, and Brooklyn Carpenter; Riley and Logan Egnoski. Preceding Alfred in death are his parents, a brother, Walter Ryf; three sisters, his twin - Hilda, Rose, and Alice.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1206 Ontario Street, with Reverend Paul Lidtke officiating. Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Park. A time of visitation and sharing of memories will be held on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
