Obituary

Alice E. Baier, age 91, of Oshkosh, died September 10, 2014, at Lakeshore Manor. She was born on December 10, 1922, in Oshkosh, to George and Marie (Luft) Felker. Alice married Orville Baier on November 15, 1941, in Oshkosh. Church life was a very important facet in Alice's life. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she served on Immanuel's Ladies Guild of which she was a charter member and assisted in the writing of its constitution. Alice was also a 60 year member of Immanuel Lutheran Church Choir, where she sang the Lord's praises as an alto. A fabulous wife, mother, sister, homemaker, and seamstress, she made the best lemon meringue and butterscotch pies. Her piecrusts were second to none. Alice balanced the books for her husband Orville's milk route and did not quit, sometimes into the night, until the books balanced to the penny. She enjoyed bowling, shopping with family, babysitting, and caring for many family members' babies and children, which were very dear and special to her.
Survivors include three daughters: Elizabeth Sue (Douglas) Mahy of Dallas, Texas, Margaret Kay (Frank) Wilderspin of St. Louis, Missouri, and Kathryn Marie Baier of Oshkosh; four grandchildren: Shannon (David) Wiggins, Erin (Robert) Famulare, Frank Wilderspin III, and Mara (Tavo) Diaz-Granados; two great-grandchildren: Devon Famulare and Dominico Miguel Diaz-Granados; a sister, Gloria Moore: sisters-in-law: Jay Felker and Eleanor (Willert) Kester. Preceding Alice in death is her husband, her parents; seven brothers: Harvey, Edward, Lorny, Leo, George, Danny and William: and four sisters, Esther, Janet, Marie, and Leona.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 15, 2014, at 12:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 338 North Eagle Street, with Reverend David F. Pagel officiating. Friends will be received at the church for visitation on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park. A memorial is being established in Alice's memory. Online condolences to the family may be sent to www.seefeldfuneral.com.
The family would like to thank the staff at Lakeshore Manor and Affinity Hospice for their caring and compassionate care of Alice.
Alice's Bible Confirmation verse was "Blessed are they that hear the word of God and keep it." Her life was a living testimony to that verse as she lived it out to the best of her ability, encouraging and leading others by her example to do the same. She carried a positive outlook on life with one of her favorite sayings being, "put good construction on it." She will be greatly and sorely missed by all that knew and loved her.
