Obituary

Resting peacefully with family at her side, the Angels came to escort our mom, Alice Wieseke, 92, to her Heavenly Home on 10/26/24.

Beloved mom, wife, and friend.  Mom was born, lived and worked in Milwaukee until she and dad fulfilled their dream of having a place on the water.  Omro became home.

Mom quickly found friends by doing what she loved…helping others while having fun!

She was a dependable volunteer at St. Mary Church, the Omro Food Pantry, The Omro Area Community Center and the Advocap Mealsite.

A tireless worker and full of energy!

Mom enjoyed bowling with her new buddies, playing games, like Aggravation, exercising or singing with the choir.   When she was home, at the river, she enjoyed gardening, fishing, pontoon rides and playing yard games.

She enjoyed going to live performances whether it be a local band or a theater play.

She looked forward to traveling anywhere, California, Washington, Texas, Italy, Ireland or Door County.

Mom took pleasure in all life has to offer.  Laughing, giving friends a "hard time" & dancing, dancing, dancing!

Later, she loved leading chair exercise class with the "Omro Hotties"! She was affectionately known as the "Energizer Bunny".  She was always eager to try something new and didn't mind looking silly…a good sport.  Mom loved cheering on the Packers, Badgers, Bucks and especially the Milwaukee Brewers. An avid and knowledgeable sports fan.

What an amazing mom. My brother and I have wonderful childhood memories of picnics, going to the park and soaring high on the swings…In the days when you could! Boat rides, flying kites at the lakefront in Milwaukee…so many happy memories.  Our Sunday after church ritual was different.  Our house was filled with music playing on the stereo and then watching Polka Time on TV and polka dancing in the living room. Extended family get-togethers were always fun with lots of hugs, food, laughter, music and yes, you guessed it…more dancing.  Our mom always made our house festive and joyful. Then, of course, were all the great meals she cooked and her famous Brown Bag Apple Pie!

As we got older, we realized why so many people wanted to be around her as much as we did.

She was a positive light, a beacon you wanted to be close to.  Her deep faith and daily prayers taught her that the values of being honest, kind, humble and compassionate make you joyful and content.

Her secret to a long, happy active life, I believe, was starting every day with saying prayers and a rosary, exercise, eating as healthy as possible, helping others, being a caring sympathetic listener and having good friends to laugh with as often as possible.

Mom was a vibrant, generous, courageous, independent woman.  Her legacy is teaching us to live a good, kind life that you can be proud of. We know her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A dedicated and affectionate mom to Bonnie Wieseke & Paul Searl and Mark Wieseke and Tanja.  Proud & Loving Grandma to Andrea and Allison. Great-Grandma to beautiful Natalie.

Caring aunt to Patti Phillips, Brenda Wolfe and Robert Winter. She is further survived by beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends that she considered extended family.

Mom was a devoted wife to our dad, Robert Wieseke who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Anton & Sophie Lisocki; and siblings, Joe, Gene, Lily, Sophie and Sylvia.

We know the line in heaven was long to welcome our mom home.  We will miss her dearly but are comforted by the thought of her being reunited with loved ones.  Our dad can embrace his "beautiful doll" once again and dance for all eternity.

A funeral to celebrate Alice's life will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at St. Mary Church, Omro, WI.

Visitation is from 9am-11am with Mass to follow.

Her final resting place will be at St. Adalberts Cemetery, Milwaukee, WI.
