Alta V. Zimmerman, age 99, of Oshkosh died at Evergreen Manor on Thursday, January 12, 2006. She was born to Elmer and Mary (Helmer) Vanderhoof on February 23, 1906. On July 22, 1947 she married Gilbert Zimmerman. They enjoyed 33 years together until his death in 1980.

Alta was a schoolteacher who taught in a one-room schoolhouse, and then for the United States Air Force.

Her sister: Lona Lett survives Alta, along with many nieces and nephews. Her brothers: Lincoln, Nathan, and Arnold, along with her sisters: Lillian, Nora, and Frances preceded her in death.

Funeral Services for Alta will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 14, 2006 at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, with Reverend Gerald Nerenhausen officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park.
