Obituary

Alvin "Al" B. Harrison, age 90, of Oshkosh, died on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at Bethel Home. He was born on March 8, 1916 to the late Benjamin and Clara (Eckstein) Harrison in the Town of Neenah. Alvin married Amelia Schmick on March 13, 1937 in Pickett. Amelia preceded him in death on February 27, 2004.

Alvin was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church for over 50 years. He served as an usher and an elder. Alvin served his country as a Marine during World War II. He was the recipient of the Victory Medal. Upon coming back to the states, he joined the American Legion Post 70 and was a member of the Last Man's Club. Alvin worked for Universal Foundry and retired after 40 years.

Survivors include his two sons: Alvin (Judith) Harrison Jr. of Oshkosh, and David (Jacqualine) Harrison of Plover, Wisconsin; two daughters: Jean (Robert) Weber of Waukesha, Wisconsin and Mary Kay (William) House of Arlington, Texas; nine grandchildren, Brian and Lana Harrison, Bonnie Rhyner, Jason Weber, Tamara Bernie, Scott House, Sarah Ketchum, Elizabeth Perl, and Justin Harrison; and eight great-grandchildren, Ashley and Nicole Rhyner, Lillian Ketchum, Siara and Devlin Bernie, Logan House, Lilly Weber, and Amelia Perl. He is also survived by one sister: Irene Plantz of Pickett. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Amelia, his parents, two sisters: Mildred Kilby and Leona Knaggs and two brothers: Raymond and Gordon Harrison.

Funeral Services for Alvin will be on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 338 N. Eagle Street, at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend David Pagel officiating. Friends and neighbors may call at the church Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Park. Memorials in Alvin's name may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Curtis Radford for all his care and compassion with Alvin during his last years.

A special thank you to the Bethel Home staff on 2 west for the care, love and compassion shown to Alvin during his two years there. You are very special people.
