Alvin E. Worchel, age 74, of Omro, passed away Monday, September 27, 2010, at his home, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 8, 1936, to Eugene and Viola (Krause) Worchel. He was baptized at the family farm house in Village of Globe, near Neillsville, and confirmed in Globe Lutheran Church. He graduated from Green Lake High School in 1954, and then proudly served his country in the US Marine Corp from 1954 – 1956. He married Joanne M. O'Keefe on May 26, 1962, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Omro. He retired from Speed Queen after 42 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and was quite talented at fixing lawn mowers. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Omro. Alvin was a kind, giving and loving man, who enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Alvin is survived and will be missed by is wife of 48 years, Joanne; his daughter, Debora (Richard) Ives of Oshkosh; son, Gary Worchel of Omro; his grandchildren, David, Danae, Daniel, Dannah and Dalaney Ives. He is further survived by sister, Dolores Worchel; brother, Gordon (Donna) Worchel, sisters and brother in law, Blanche (Ronald) Widmer, Robert (Janet) O'Keefe and Linda O'Mary; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother in law, Donna and Harland Schubert, and his in laws, Patrick and Iola O'Keefe.

In respect to Alvin's memory, family and friends will gather at Grace Lutheran Church, 720 Jackson Ave., Omro, on Thursday, September 30, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, October 1, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. The Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Richard Bartholomew officiating. Alvin will be laid to rest at the Omro Cemetery.
