Anita J. Simm, age 91, passed away at Park View Health Center on Thursday, June 20, 2013. Anita was born on September 9, 1921, the daughter of the late Walter and Carrie (Madisen) Simm in Nekimi. She graduated from Oshkosh High School and attended Oshkosh State College. She ran a fashion studio which featured bridal attire. Anita created the Cottage Etcetera Shop where she created items such as braids, lace, craft material and samples for her suppliers. Magazines of the time often ran articles about her creations. She has done a life-long study of Native Americans and nature; featuring birds, flowers and landscapes. Anthropology and Archeology were favorite interests when reading. She was a faithful member of First Congregational Church in Oshkosh.
Anita is survived by her cousin, Erik (Nancy) Madisen of Appleton and his children: Randi (Jeremy) White of St. Paul, MN and Erik (Jean) Madisen of Milwaukee; and cousin, Neal (Mardi) Madisen of Milwaukee. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marcile.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at the Seefeld Funeral Home, with Rev. Ralph DiBiasio-Snyder officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh.
