Arden E. Chellow, age 89, of Omro, died suddenly and unexpectedly at home on Saturday, September 27, 2008. He was born February 3, 1919, in Spring Lake, WI, the son of William and Millie (Schumacher) Chellow. Arden married Zula Shelton on June 21, 1941. He was a World War II Veteran serving in the Coast Guard on the USS Wakefield from 1942 until 1947. When he came back from the war, he worked as a self-employed mechanic in the Town of Omro. In 1952, he went to work for the C.R. Meyer Company and retired from there in 1976. Arden was an all around sportsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, was a member of the Springbrook Sportsman Club and also a lifetime member of the NRA.
Arden is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Zula; son, Robert (Marie) Chellow of Omro; granddaughter, Amy (Dave) Chellow-Huberty of Omro; great granddaughters, Kyla and McKenna Huberty; sisters, Bessie Miller Fredricks of Oshkosh, Betty Smith of Sparks, NV; sister in law, Arloa (Clayton) Doughty of Tucson, AZ; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Clarence, Richard and George; and two sisters, Florence Jones and Evelyn Osse.
In respect to Arden's memory, the family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at the Omro Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. until the time of the funeral service at 7:00 P.M. with Rev. Charles Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Omro Cemetery on Wednesday at 2:00 P.M.
