Arden L. Longworth (Shorty), age 78, of Omro, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on Monday, November 7, 2016 at Aurora Medical Center. Arden was born in the Town of Poygan on January 28, 1938, the son of Homer and Florence (Buck) Longworth. He attended Omro Public Schools and since the third grade has had a lifelong friend, Tom Gruszynske. Later he joined the U.S. Air Force, as a C-118 special engine mechanic, serving honorably from January 1955 until November 1958. While stationed in Washington State, Arden married the love of his life, Marjorie Simpson, on September 27, 1958. Returning to Wisconsin they had a son Alan. Arden was working for Weyauwega Milk Products, road construction, and then started farming in the town of Rushford for more than 35 years. Arden was well known for his keen sense of humor and his no nonsense approach to life. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed sharing his passion of hunting trophy bucks with friends and family. Shorty was a gun enthusiast and a Life member of Fox Valley Trap Club. Trap shooting was a great past time spent with friends and family. May he be forever in our hearts and guide our arrows.Arden is loved and will be missed by his wife of 58 years, Marjorie; son, Alan (Debbie) Longworth; brothers and sisters, Shirley Loker, Donald Longworth, Larry (Charlene) Longworth, Sharon (Jack) Spiegelberg; grandchildren, Nicole, Heather, and Rachel Longworth; great granddaughter, Lillian Longworth; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, father in law, brother in law, Leslie Loker and sister in law, Mavis Longworth.The family will receive friends on Friday, November 11, 2016, at Kwiatkowski Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Richard Bartholomew officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery with full military honors. The family would like to thank the staff at Aurora Hospital for the excellent manner in which they took care of Arden.
