Arlys J. Kumbier, age 76, of Omro, died peacefully early Friday morning, December 4, 2015. Arlys was born August 17, 1939, in Oshkosh, the daughter of Chet and Louise (Moeller) O'Neill. She married Darwin F. Kumbier in 1961. This union was blessed with four children. After graduation from High School, Arlys attended U.W.O. and received her teaching degree. She then taught school for two years at Widmer School and then 5 ½ years at Sunset School. When they started their family, Arlys stopped teaching and concentrated her efforts on raising their children and helping her husband on the family farm. As her family grew and become older, she returned to teaching as a substitute teacher in the Omro School District. Aryls later worked as a bank teller, in child care, Bemis and at the Omro Piggly Wiggly. She loved gardening, canoeing with friends and very much enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church and also sang in their choir for many years.Arlys is loved and will be missed by her children, Laurie (David) Gitlin of Pickett, Connie (Warren) Meuler of Oshkosh and Darren "Chaz" Kumbier of Oshkosh; grandchildren, Justin (Danielle) Schmick, Ryan and McKinzi Davies, Brandon and Cody Meuler, Samantha (Austin) Burmeister, Alex and Abby Kumbier; great grandchildren, Harper and Theo Schmick; brothers, Claire (Mary Ellen) O'Neill, Ron (Joanne) O'Neill; sister, Shirley (Wes) Radloff; brothers in law, Robert (Darlene) Kumbier, David (Kathy) Kumbier; sister in law, Beverly Kumbier; nieces nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Darwin, daughter, Cindy and brothers in law, Dennis and Donald "Gup" Kumbier.The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Grace Lutheran Church, 720 Jackson Ave., Omro, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. The funeral service will follow at church at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Richard Bartholomew officiating. Arlys will be laid to rest at Waukau Cemetery. A memorial is being established in her name.The family would like to thank the Affinity Hospice Team, Bethel Home and the staff of Serenity Garden for their kindness and care.
