Armand W. Lewis, age 74, of Omro, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, September 13, 2017. He was born May 28, 1943, the son of Everett and Helen (Gehrke) Lewis. Armand grew up on the family homestead in Eureka, attended Bell School and was a graduate of Omro High School. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in Germany. He married Christine Belfeuil in Eureka on March 9, 1968. Armand was a carpenter by trade and had worked and retired from C.R. Meyer and Sons Co. after working there for 25 years. He was a 50 year member of the Carpenter's Union. He was a volunteer for the Omro Rushford Fire Department, was a member of the American Legion Post 234 of Omro and was a faithful active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Omro.In his free time, Armand enjoyed bowling, golf, camping, watching the Brewers and Packers, doing volunteer work at church and helping his children with their remodeling projects. In his younger years, he played baseball for the Eureka Falcons as their catcher and was awarded the MVP the year they won the championship. Armand set an example for his family and loved all his family and grandchildren beyond measure. His grandchildren were more than special to him and he enjoyed every minute with them and spent countless hours attending all their events.Armand is loved and will be missed by his wife of almost 50 years, Christine; son, Jerry and his wife, Kate and their children, Jerry II, Matthew, Taylor and Talia and his great grandson, Braylin Sonnleitner-Lewis; son, Tony and his wife, Lori and their children, Jamie and Michael Lewis and Michael and Matthew Viglia; son, Armand Jr. and his wife Angela and their children, Armand "Willie" Lewis, III and Paige Lewis; brother, Bob Lewis; sister, Darlene (Ron) Besaw; brother in law, Bill King; sister in law, Sandy Lewis; nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janet King; brother, Wilbur Lewis and sister in law, Marion Lewis.The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday (TODAY), September 14, 2017, at Grace Lutheran Church, 720 Jackson Ave., Omro from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and then again on Friday, September 15, 2017 at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Richard Bartholomew officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Eureka Cemetery.The family would like to extend a special and heart felt thank you to the entire staff of Affinity Hospice, Kate Lewis, Lori Lewis, Armand Lewis, Jr., as well as Sharon and Bob Ellis, Earl Miller and Barb Kempf for all their love, support and care given to Armand and Chris.
