Arvid J. Johnston, age 67, of Omro, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh after a courageous battle with cancer. Arvid was born June 5, 1943, in Omro to Charles and Beverly (Monahan) Johnston. He attended Omro Public School and graduated from Omro High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S Army from March 1964 – March 1967, spending time in Missouri, Maryland and Germany. He married Trudy Funk on April 27, 1968. He retired after a 30 year career in trucking. Arvid enjoyed camping, traveling and gardening.

Arvid was loved and will be missed by his wife of 42 years, Trudy of Omro, his sons, Darrick of Stevens Point and Scott (Daycia) of Westfield; his daughter, Michelle (Chris) Hand of Connecticut; his grandchildren, Reid, Keegan, & Claudia Johnston and Ethan & Ava Hand; his mother, Beverly Johnston of Omro; brothers, Gary (Sue), Randal (Sue), Brian (Pam), Jeffrey (Mary), Brady (Debbie); sisters, Debra (Ronald) Larson and Pamela Sallee. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles and brothers, Terry and Wayne.

In respect to Arvid's memory, family and friends will gather at St. Mary Catholic Church, 730 Madison Ave., Omro on Saturday, September 25, 2010, from 9:00 a.m., until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest in Omro Cemetery. A memorial is being established.
