Arvilla T. Madel, age 100, died Monday evening, January 25, 2010, at Park View Health Center. Born on November 16, 1909 in Iron River, Wisconsin, to Oscar and Lily (Smith) Olson, Arvilla married Joseph Madel on February 6, 1928 in Winona, Minnesota. Joseph preceded Arvilla in death on October 14, 2000.
A member of First English Lutheran Church, Arvilla was an active church kitchen participant and a member of Marian Circle. Other memberships included Bethel Home Auxiliary and Senior Citizens.
Left to mourn her passing are three sons, Herman (Cordell) Madel of Neenah, Alvin (Nancy) Madel of Seymour, and Leonard (Patricia) Madel of Oshkosh; three daughters, Lorraine Nowak-Gust of Boynton Beach, Florida, Betty Schmiedel-Haller of Apache Junction, Arizona, and Gloria (Gerald) Jagodinski of Oshkosh; a twin brother, Arthur (Dorothy) Olson of Eau Claire; a sister, Myrtle Vogel of Reedsburg, Wisconsin; a brother-in-law, Morris Vold of Fergus Falls, Minnesota; 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Preceding Arvilla in death is her husband; a son, Gerald Madel; a brother, Orville Olson; and two sisters, Evelyn Setzer and Lorraine Vold.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 29, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. in First English Lutheran Church, 1013 Minnesota Street, with Reverend Martin Ruge officiating. A time of visitation and sharing of memories will be held on Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Arvilla will be laid to rest next to Joseph in Lake View Memorial Park.
