Obituary

Barbara Ann Karoline Corcoran, age 73, was called to her eternal home, August 18th in the loving presence of her family, after a brief battle with a brain tumor.

Born on January 11, 1934 to Robert and Emma Strenger, Barbara grew up in Madison, Wisconsin, then married and moved to Oshkosh in 1967.

Carrying on the tradition of her love is her husband Ken, the love of her life since high school, and to whom she gifted five children: Karen Fredrick (Jeffrey Jacobson) of Oshkosh, Jeffrey (Janell) Corcoran of Wrightstown, Robert (Judy) Corcoran of Pewaukee, Julie Pollnow of Oshkosh, and Jay (Jennifer) Corcoran of New London. Keeping Barb's memory alive are Barb and Ken's fifteen grandchildren: Cam and Casee (fiance Brett Meach) Corcoran, Lauren, Madeline, Benjamin, and Jacob Ganther, Brett (Becky Kolaga) and Kayla Corcoran, Kenlin (fiance Nate Grams) and Kelly Fredrick, Abby, Brennan, and Griffin Pollnow, and Fynn and Riley Corcoran. Brady Kolaga is Ken and Barb's first great-grandchild. She was an amazing grandmother, and though she had many grandchildren, all were her favorites.

Barbara will always claim a special place in the hearts of her brother, Joseph (Sue) Strenger, her brothers-in-law, Grant Corcoran and Jim Taylor, her sisters-in-law, Addie Corcoran, Donna Crotty, and Patty Corcoran, as well as many special cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is surrounded by those who have gone before her: parents, Robert and Emma Strenger, father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Tillie Corcoran, brothers-in-law, Dean Corcoran and Dale Crotty, and a sister-in-law, Verna Taylor.

Following her example of selflessness, her husband and children became strong community activists. Barb proudly helped them behind the scenes in their clubs and various projects such as Kiwanis, Junior Women's, Southwest Rotary, Festival of Trees, Little Oshkosh, Celebration of Lights, and countless school events for her grandchildren.

Barb's whole world centered on her husband, children, grandchildren, where she continually opened her heart and home to their friends from childhood to adulthood. Throughout the years many new faces where welcomed by Barb into the Corcoran home, but all left feeling like part of the family. As a wife, mother, and grandmother, Barbara was the living nucleus of love for the Corcorans. Every holiday became an enormous celebration of family, food, and laughter that always left everyone sated with love. Because of her, it remains a blessing and honor to boast membership in Barb's family. There is no one in our circle of family and friends that Barb did not help to become a better person, and we know you loved her too. Help us to honor her by finding joy in your spouse and children, opening your arms to anyone in need, by giving the gift of unconditional love.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Evergreen 4th floor Rehabilitation Facility for their tireless efforts and to the friends near and far for their countless prayers and support. A special thank you to Dr. Stephen Maassen, Dr. Thomas Wascher, and David Bond of Neuro Spine, Pat Jahner of Aurora Hospice, the staff at Froedtert Hospital and special friends, Lisa Schmidt and Bonnie Sosnoski for the care and concern given to Barbara.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Raphael Catholic Church, 830 South Westhaven Drive, with Reverend Carl Schmitt officiating. A time of visitation and sharing of memories will take place on Tuesday from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. and also on Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. all at the church.
