Obituary

Bernard "Butch" Meyer, age 82, of Omro died Thursday morning, April 22, 2004 at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh. He was born February 4, 1922 in Shawano, WI, the son of William and Matilda Meyer. Butch served in the U.S. Military from 1943-1946. On May 29, 1948, he married Carol Weber. During his lifetime, Butch had worked in construction for 30 years in the Oshkosh area and was involved in building many UW-Oshkosh structures. Family and friends fondly recall what a great cook he was and how he loved tending to his garden, which produced many fruits and vegetables. He loved to read a good book and spend time fishing. Butch also enjoyed volunteering for Second Harvest, which he did between 1992-1998.

Butch is loved and will be missed by Carol, his wife of nearly 56 years, children: Marsha (Jim) Qualley of North Chicago, Illinois; Patrick (Susan) Meyer & Teresa (Richard) Wachtveitl, both of Oshkosh. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, brother: Lester (Henrietta) of Bonduel; sisters: Louise Koch & Agnes Buelow both of Green Bay; Maggie (John) Martin of Stevens Point; Dorothy (George "Bud") Merrill of Roseville, MN; and Marjorie (Cliff) Graff of Saginaw, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Delores Haback.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at the funeral home in Omro from 3-5:45 P.M. with funeral services at 6:00 P.M. with Fr. LeRoy Smet officiating. Burial will be in the Omro Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
