Bernice "Ma" E. Gabert, age 92 of Oshkosh, passed away at home on Wednesday, February 6, 2008. She was born in Van Dyne, Wisconsin, on August 13, 1915 to Henrich and Helena (Schmitt) Zentner. On July 6, 1935, she married Leonard F. Gabert at St. Vincent Catholic Church.

Bernice was proud of her Swiss heritage that she inherited through her grandfather who homesteaded in Van Dyne, WI. Bernice "Ma" enjoyed her lake home for over 70 years and always welcomed family and friends to share the fishing, sunsets, and wildlife. She enjoyed her several winters to Florida and in her later life she appreciated traveling through the stories told to her by her family and friends.

Bernice will be missed by her loving family: Dick (Sharon) Gabert, Thomas (Maribeth) Gabert and daughter in law, Sandra Gabert; grandchildren Heather Gabert of Manor, Texas, Chad (Amy) Gabert of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Sabrina (Tony) Wixo of Shanghai, China and Cindy (Jeff) Borgen of Omro, Wisconsin; and great grandchildren: Ava Wixo, Caden Wixo, Sophia Borgen and Colin Gabert. Bernice was predeceased by her husband, Leonard F. Gabert and son, Henry Gabert.

Friends and family may call at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street on Saturday, February 9, 2008 from 1:00p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at which time the Deacon Ray Brandenstein will lead a service in celebration of "Ma's life. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Oshkosh.
