Bernice Manske, 94, of Omro, died January 24, 2011, at the Omro Care Center after a short illness. She was born at home on September 3, 1916, to Frank and Rose (Tetzloff) Dulske in the town of Dewey. Bernice married Ahira Barden on October 9, 1937 who preceded her in death in 1950. She then married Herman Manske in 1959 in Redgranite, WI where they resided until the death of her husband in 1980. Moving to Omro, WI, she spent the next 27 years living at Fox View Manor.
Bernice enjoyed being a homemaker and later was employed at various factories and retired from the Medalist Sandknit Shop in Berlin, WI. She always made sure she was busy and volunteered at various organizations, most recently the Advocap Meal Site at Fox View Manor. She was also a long time member of the Ladies Aid Society of the Grace Lutheran Church in Omro.
Bernice is survived by two daughters, Clare Ann (Kenneth) Lohry and Rosalie (James) Grundy; two sons, Thomas Hale Manske and James (Carol) Barden. Bernice had 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. She is further survived by 3 sisters, Phyllis Florynski, Eljane Blenker and Rose (James) Martin and other loving relatives and friends.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Martin and Ernest and one sister, Marcella; a step-daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn (Kenneth) Brinkman; two sons, Donald Barden and LaVern Barden.
The Funeral Service for Bernice will be held Saturday, January 29, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. at Grace Lutheran Church in Omro with Rev. Richard Bartholomew officiating. Interment will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Auroraville, WI. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday at the church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
