Bernice L. "Bunny" Montgomery, age, 94, of Oshkosh, returned to our Lord, on Thursday, December 6, 2012, at Evergreen, where she was a patient with Alzheimer's since August 30, 2004. She was born in Manawa, Wisconsin, on October 21, 1918, the daughter of Kenneth and Bessie (Avery) Lindsay. After graduating from Little Wolf High School in Manawa, Bunny attended Oshkosh Business College for one year. If was there that she met the love of her life, Gordon K. "Corky" Montgomery. They were united in marriage on August 30, 1941.
Employed as a private secretary for Congressman Frank B. Keefe, Bunny worked in the law firm of Keefe, Barber, Patri, and Stillman from September 1936 until her retirement in April 1963. She enjoyed music, people, playing piano at First Congregational Church, and still continued to play during her confinement at Share Haven. Her warm smile, friendly eyes, beautiful gray hair, and love of children will be a memory that lives inside of each and every person who ever met her. To know Bunny was to love her.
Bunny was a member of First Congregational Church. She was an active member of Mercy Hospital Auxiliary for many years, and a Charter Member in the West Palm Beach Hospital Auxiliary of Loxahatchee, Florida.
Survived Bunny is her husband of 71 years of married life, Gordon "Corky" Montgomery. Beginning in December 1979, the two were residents of West Palm Beach, Florida, during the winter months until returning to Oshkosh permanently in May 2003.
Bunny is further survived by a sister-in-law, Athene Montgomery Boughton; a number of nieces and nephews, Shirley Woolsey Weldon of Daytona, Florida, Jean (Ron) Woolsey Zunker of Pewaukee, Alice (Ed) Schaub Eisendrath of Greendale, Rev. Kenneth (Peggy) Schaub of Sun Prairie, Mary Sue Boughton (Kenneth) Deutsch of Spring Lake, North Carolina, David (Priscilla) Boughton of Kingston, Washington, Diane (Gary) Montgomery of Hurley, and Monty (Nancy) Montgomery of Oshkosh. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Chapel, 1130 N. Westfield, Oshkosh, Wisconsin, with Revered Ralph DiBiasio-Snyder officiating. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Chapel. Expressions of sympathy may be given to Alzheimer's Association .
