Bernice M. Shew, age 85, of Omro, died peacefully Thursday evening, April 2, 2015, at Webster Manor in Omro. She was born on December 9, 1929, in the town of Rushford, the daughter of Walter and Orpha Lloyd Kallas. Bernice married Wayne Shew on June 16, 1951. She enjoyed bingo, golf, flower gardening, the Badgers and Packers. As a young woman, Bernice took great pride in taking care of her home and her family, and volunteering for many years at Sacred Heart School library and Lourdes Booster Club. She was always a gracious hostess and always made sure everyone was fed. Bernice retired from Pluswood Credit Union. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling to Florida and Las Vegas, reading, soduko and jigsaw puzzles. Bernice is loved and will be missed by her husband, Wayne of Omro; her children, Diane Luther of Oshkosh, her children, Stacy (Keith) Frey and their children, Madeline & Olivia, Matt Luther and Molly Luther; Debbie (Bryon) Huebner of Omro, their children, Jennifer Keenan, Betsy (Lenny) Young and their children, Ethan & Abby and Stephanie Keenan; Steven (Patti) Shew of Oshkosh and their son, Alex Shew; Ann (Dan) Pistohl of Oshkosh and their sons, Evan (Taylor) Pistohl and Connor Pistohl; her brother, Bernard "Ben" Kallas and many friends. Bernice was preceded in death by brothers; Walter, Vernon, Sylvester, Ralph and Lester Kallas; sisters, Helen Strasser, Annabelle Kalupa, Irene Kallas, Josephine Malson, and Myrtle "Mimi" Schultz and 4 half-brothers; John, Alvin, Joe and Stephen and special friend and brother in law, Dick Shew. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, April 6, 2015, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 730 Madison Ave., Omro, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Fr. Michael Warden and Sr. Pam Biehl officiating.
