Bernice Smith went to the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 8th in Omro, WI. She was born on February 16, 1922 in Comstock, Michigan and currently lived in Omro, Wisconsin. Bernice attended the Chicago Evangelistic Institute with her husband, Bill, and there met her long-time friend Harriett Johnson. Bernice had no children, however she was known as "Mummy Smith" to over 100 children during her 35 year career as a home service provider for mentally challenged children. Together with her best friend, Harriett, they created The Smith Home in California. In 1993 they retired and moved to Wisconsin to be near their family.
Bernice is survived by her best friend, Harriet, her sister, Wilma Kannegieter, and many nieces and nephews in Michigan, Wisconsin and California.
