Bettie J. Nipko, age 86, of Omro, formerly of Berlin, died peacefully Monday evening, August 8, 2011 at the Omro Care Center. Bettie was born December 3, 1924 in Seattle, WA, the daughter of Neil and Grace (Meyers) McCann. She had attended and graduated from High School in Long Beach, CA. Bettie married Robert P. Nipko on May 15, 1945 in California. She had served in the U.S. Army Women's Corps. during WW II. Bettie enjoyed singing, reading and writing poetry. She was an active member of the Berlin United Methodist Church for many years and was also a member of the Eastern Star.
Bettie is loved and will be missed by her husband, Robert P. Nipko of Omro; children, Paul (Anita) Nipko and Nancy Floyd both of Berlin; grandchildren, Stephanie (David Curtis) Floyd, Chad (Kyrsten) Floyd, Rob Nipko, Kate Nipko; great grandchildren, Sage Floyd and Kaya Floyd; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ray McCann.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the Berlin United Methodist Church, 178 W. Cumberland St., Berlin, WI from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. George Kafer officiating. Burial will follow in the Eureka Cemetery. Memorials in Bettie's name, may be directed to the Berlin United Methodist Church.
