Betty J. Fischer, age 74, of Oshkosh, died Wednesday evening, October 8, 2008 at Aurora Medical Center, in the presence of her loving family. She was born on September 21, 1934 in Omro to Lewis C. and Lydia L. (Haase) Franz. On May 5, 1951, Betty married Robert R. Fischer at Christ Lutheran Church in Oshkosh.
Betty was a life long member of Christ Lutheran Church. She loved the painting of ceramics. Her love of children led her help develop a program for the hearing impaired at Lincoln and Webster Stanley Schools. Betty was a Cub Scout Den Mother at Christ Lutheran Church. She was a seasonal employee at Miles Kimball, a manager of custom service for Wells Department Store, Packard-Rellin Shoe Store, Prange-Way, and Field's Restaurant.
Left to mourn her passing are her husband, Robert R. Fischer of Oshkosh; two daughters, Cheryl Fischer and Debra (Randal) Markofski, both of Oshkosh; two sons, Jeffery Fischer of Oshkosh, and Gregory (Mary) Fischer of Grand Chute; four grandchildren, Cassie (fiance Casey) Fischer, Dustin R. Williams, Karisa (Luke) Gorski, and Kayla (fiance' Kyle) Markofski; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Spiering of Oshkosh and Joyce Fischer of Arizona; cousins and many dear friends. Preceding Betty in death are her parents, father and mother-in-law, Roy and Maggie Fischer, three brothers-in-law, Tom and Jack Fischer, and Albert Spiering.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 12 Noon in Christ Lutheran Church, 222 Church Ave., with Reverend Eric Quinney-Burnard officiating. Interment will follow in Lake View Memorial Park. A time of visitation and sharing of memories will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until 12 Noon on Saturday. Memorials in Betty's memory may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or the Oshkosh Humane Society. Betty's family wishes to thank Dr. Wilson, Dr. Diane Turner, Aurora Medical Center, and the nurses of 2 West for the care and love given to her during her illness.
