Betty Jean Grant, age 83, of Anaheim, CA, formerly of Omro, passed away on March 7, 2009, due to complications of surgery. She was surrounded by her family. Betty was born on January 15, 1926, in Rush Lake to Emil and Helen (Kraft) Wesner. She married Kenneth R. Grant on her family homestead on November 7, 1945. She worked as an inspector at Speed Queen.
Betty was the "World's Best Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma". She nurtured and loved her family deeply. She handcrafted gifts for her grandchildren that are still treasured today. She introduced her children to the Lord and taught them good values and respect. She was fun; she was funny; and she was a best friend to everyone that knew her. She enjoyed playing cards and other games and gardening too. She will be missed dearly by all of her family and friends.
Betty is survived by her children, Kenneth W. Grant of Anaheim, CA, Marcie (Tom) Purtell of Anaheim, CA, and Kay Tritt of Cheyenne, WY; grandchildren, Rita (Justin) Hausmann and Shelly Koch of Cheyenne, WY, Joe (Valentina) Purtell of Anaheim, CA, Krissy (David) Retrum of Cypress, CA, Dan Purtell of Avon, CO; and Angela (Jim) Salamon of Sterling Heights, MI; great grandchildren, Courtney and Reid Salamon, Viktor and Alexander Purtell, and Andrew Hausmann. She is further survived by sisters-in-law, Marjorie Hart of Oshkosh, Joann Hammon of Alamogordo, NM, Kate Grant of Oshkosh, and Monona Lewellyn of Pickett and brother-in-law John "Bud' Grant of Omro. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Kenneth R. Grant, her parents, her sister, Violet Bossenbroek and her brother, Vernon Wesner.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home, on Friday, March 13, 2009, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Edward Slusser officiating. Betty will be laid to rest in the Waukau Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Orange County Food Bank or to the animal rescue groups that Betty supported.
