Obituary

Bonnie R. (Behm) Woerpel was born on May 28, 1950 and passed away peacefully on Friday, July 26 at the age of 74.

After having suffered a stroke in September 2023, she had been living at Eden Meadows Green House, a retirement home, where she was well taken care of. All the nurses always laughed at her stories and they often said "she keeps us in stitches."

Bonnie met the love of her life, Dennis Woerpel, while they were both in college at UW Oshkosh in the late 60's. They were married on December 28, 1971. Dennis aka "Denny, Den" passed away in 2016 after a short battle with cancer. They leave behind their children, Dani (Dylan) Stolley and James Woerpel.

She absolutely loved animals, especially those from the Oshkosh Area Humane Society. She had a penchant for adopting animals she thought no one else would. When she was a child she loved horses as well, but there was never a day in her life without dogs or cats.

She also loved crafting, gardening, home décor, music, sewing, and especially loved the holidays, spending time with her classmates from Omro High School (Class of '68) and her many trips to Disney World in Florida. She also loved all the Harry Potter movies and watching old WWII documentaries because she "already knew who won."

Bonnie was an only child and was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Gerry Behm; and her husband, Dennis Woerpel. She leaves behind many loving friends and family, many who visited her on an almost daily basis.  A special thank you to Amy and Terry Hathaway and the numerous Behm cousins who looked after her for so many years, especially after she was widowed.

The family would like to send a special thanks to the entire staff at Eden Meadows. In lieu of cards or flowers, memorial donations are appreciated in Bonnie's name to the Oshkosh Area Humane Society.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Becket's Restaurant in Oshkosh (she loved those potato croquettes and lunch visits!)  A date and time are forthcoming.
