John M. "Bud" Grant, age 91, of Omro, died peacefully Monday, July 30, 2012. Bud was born April 4, 1921, in Madison, WI, the son of Marshall and Lydia (Baum) Grant. He proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII. Bud married Margaret A. "Peg" Von Rembow at their home on August 24, 1945. He worked as a plumber for Peters Plumbing. He was a member of Local 400 Plumbers and Steamfitters. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball and pitching horseshoes. He played golf and even had a hole in one at Winro. He was quite handy and enjoyed building things like martin bird houses. He always got compliments on his beautiful garden.
Survivors include his daughters, Barbara (Robert) Carlson of Berlin, Patti (James) Schuppe of Neenah; son, Barry (Fran St. Andre) of Appleton; grandchildren, Michael (Jackie), Scott, Joplin (David), Cody (Kevin), Cale (DeAnna), Jamie and Troy, and 10 great grandchildren; sister, Monona Lewellyn; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Margaret "Peg", three grandchildren, Kelly Gosse, Jesse and Aaron Grant; brothers, Kenneth (Betty) Grant, Lowell (Kate) Grant; sisters, Joann (Don) Hammon, Lois (Wally) Lee , June (Vernon) Wesner and Marjorie "Mag" (Clifford) Hart.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Lake View Memorial Park in Oshkosh.
