Obituary

Burton Lewis Keefe, age 88 of Oshkosh, died at his home Tuesday morning, June 28, 2005. He was born in Oshkosh on January 21, 1917 to Harry Sumner Keefe and Jenny (Lewis) Keefe. Burt's parent died in 1920 and his loving Aunts and Uncles, spending most of his time with Frank and Mildred Keefe, and Lucille and Rudyard Keefe, raised him. In December of 1945 he married Margaret Elizabeth Henderson.

Burt served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Following the war he began working for the U.S. Postal service and remained there until retirement after 36 years. He was a member of the American Legion. He was a Docent / Guide for many years at EAA, he was the first postmaster of EAA. He worked with the Boy Scouts of America, and earned, among other recognitions, the Silver Beaver Award. He also volunteered with the Campfire Girls.

Burt is survived by his wife: Margaret; children: Kevin James (Pamela) Keefe of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Kathleen Adair (Richard) Keefe Boettner of Oconomowoc, and Christopher Michael Keefe of Oshkosh; grandchildren: Shaun Michael Keefe of Huntsville, Alabama, Carrie and Kimberly Hylton-Keefe of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Ryan Todd Boettner of Oconomowoc, Michael Jon Boettner of Milwaukee, and Timothy Charles Boettner of Oconomowoc. He is further survived by brother-in-laws: Donald (Joan) Henderson and Edwin (Connie) Henderson; sister-in-laws: Patricia O'Byrme Keefe and Marjorie Jackson Keefe; and several Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, Nieces, and Nephews. His parents precede him in death along with brothers: Harry Tom Keefe and Harold Sumner Keefe; and special relatives Frank, Mildred, Lucille, and Rudyard Keefe.

Funeral services for Burt will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, July 1, 2005, at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 300 North Eagle Street, Father Steven Powers officiating. A time of visitation and support will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, June 30, 2005, from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. and again on Friday from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service. Interment will be in Ellenwood Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established for the Alzheimer's Association and other causes important to Burton.
