Carl E. Volkman, age 87, of Oshkosh, died Sunday afternoon, April 3, 2011, at Park View Health Center. Born on October 17, 1923 in Winneconne to Carl A. and Elizabeth (Schmeling) Volkman, Carl married June B. Raddatz on November 30, 1946 in Oshkosh.
A long-time area dairy farmer, Carl was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ in Oshkosh, where he held various church offices. Later, Carl was employed by SNC in the shipping department until his retirement. He enjoyed time spent dancing, reading, fishing, and camping.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife of 64 years, June Volkman of Oshkosh; two sons, David (Yvonne) Volkman of Oshkosh and Steven Volkman of Hiawatha, Iowa; two grandchildren, Tim Volkman of Oshkosh and Angela Volkman of Milwaukee; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Carl in death are his parents and two sisters, Yvonne and Vera.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. in Bethany United Church of Christ, 145 W. 24th Ave., with Reverend Kevin Mundell officiating. Interment will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery. A time of visitation and sharing of memories will be held on Wednesday from to 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.
