Carleton C. Schmidt "Schmitty" age 88, of Oshkosh passed away on Friday, November 28, 2014, at his home. He was born in Oshkosh on August 3, 1926, the son of Balthazar and Ruth (Kalbus) Schmidt. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He was an electrical engineer, and worked at AC Delco, a division of General Motors and for Bucyrus Erie before retirement. Schmitty was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, the VFW and the Midnight Club. He loved fishing.
Schmitty is survived by his wife of 26 years, Lois; his children, James (Debra) of Madison and Lucyann Schmidt (Maurice Wright) of Kenosha; granddaughter, Charise Wright; step-children, Pam (Randy) Strickland of Kissimee, FL, Cheryl (Dan) Long of Sidney, Ohio, Steven (Joyce) Cooper of Bell Fountain, Ohio and Penny Davis of Piqua, Ohio; numerous step grand and great grandchildren; and his special dog, Odie. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marjorie Schmidt, sisters, Fern Schmidt and Evelyn Dutcher and brother, James Schmidt.
The funeral service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 222 Church Ave., on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 12:00 Noon, with Rev. Jennifer Czarnota officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the church on Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at noon. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to Christ Lutheran Church.
