Obituary

Carol Ann Henkle, age 68, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2013, at the Agnesian Hospice Home of Hope, in Fond du Lac. She was born on February 22, 1944, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Raymond L. and Marjorie L. (Stickney) Pierson. In 1953 the family moved to Oshkosh and in 1959 the family was blessed with the addition of her sister, Rae Ann. In 1962, Carol was in the first graduating class from the new Oshkosh High School. While attending Carroll College for one year, she met her future husband, Douglas H. Henkle and they were married on September 3, 1966. They were blessed with three extra-special people, their children, Elizabeth, Stephen, and Peter. After graduating from Wisconsin State University-Oshkosh in January 1967, Carol was employed by Kewaskum High School in Kewaskum, Wisconsin for two and a half years as a librarian.
During her adult life, Carol was an almost 50 year member of Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron of the local chapter in 1972; almost 50 year member of Chapter BA P.E.O. Sisterhood, having served in every office at one time or another. During her more than 50 year membership at Frist Congregational Church, she taught Sunday School for more than 25 years, and served on the Library Committee and the Women's Fellowship Board.
Left to mourn her passing is two sons, Peter Douglas (fiancée Jessi Roman) Henkle and Stephen Charles Henkle, both of Oshkosh; a daughter, Elizabeth RaeAnn (Keith) Barzyk of Princeton; a granddaughter, McKenna Barzyk of Princeton; her sister, Rae Ann (Michael) Hassler of West Bend; and a niece, Caitlin Hassler of West Bend. Further surviving Carol is a maternal cousin, Frank (Sondra) Stickney of Elk Point, South Dakota, and their daughter, Dr. Gwen Stickney of North Dakota, as well as numerous cousins on her father's side; and two aunts, Dorothy Anderson of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Mavis Lewis of Granite Falls, Minnesota.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 21, 2013, in First Congregational Church, 137 Algoma Blvd., with Reverend Carol DiBiasio-Snyder officiating. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Monday from 12 Noon until service time at the church. Expressions of sympathy may be given to First Congregational Church in Carol's memory.
