Obituary

Carolyn Mae Tritt, "Toodie," age 90, passed away peacefully at home on the family farm in Poygan surrounded by her children on February 9, 2023.

Carolyn was born on December 29, 1932 in Pine River, to the late Esther Christine (Erickson) and Rudolph Jensen. "Tootsie" was a childhood name given to her by her father at a very young age, which then transformed into Toodie in later years and remained with her for the remainder of her life. Rudolph passed unexpectedly when Toodie was a child and after Esther remarried Louis Frank Seibold in 1957, he adopted her.

She married Harland Gordon Tritt on July 22, 1949 in Omro at the age of sixteen and was married for 62 years until Harland's death in 2011. Together they raised four children on the Tritt family farm, instilling in them hard work and their love and affection for animals. Toodie was never one to shy away from hard work, spending endless hours alongside her family.

Toodie and her dear friend Audrey together earned their high school diplomas 1987. She loved her work as a certified nursing assistant at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh, where she retired after 25 years. Toodie had a passion for gardening and will always be remembered as a relentless "weeder." She enjoyed sharing her love of preserving fruits and vegetables from her garden with and for her family. She was known for her love of birds which she spent hours watching and feeding. In her day, she was also quite the bowler and enjoyed competing regulary with her teams of close friends at Omro Lanes, along with many weekend bowling tournament extravaganzas.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her family while hosting holiday and birthday gatherings at the farm. In 1999, to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary, Toodie and Harland took their entire family to Disney World in Orlando, Florida. It is a trip that is often fondly reminisced. Toodie attended countless sporting events for her children and grandchildren. She became an avid supporter of basketball, football, volleyball, soccer, baseball, track, hockey, horse showing and dance recitals. In her later years she developed a love of polka music and dancing. She also enjoyed traveling with Harland, family and friends to Alaska, Arkansas, Oregon, South Dakota, Las Vegas, Florida, and most recently to Yosemite National Park to visit her grandchildren living on the West Coast.

Toodie is survived by her children: Gary Tritt, Ken (Sandy) Tritt, Terri (Mike) Abraham and Tony (Teresa) Tritt; grandchildren: Allison Tritt (Jacob "Jake" Wangler), Andrew Tritt (Kjiersten Fagnan), Martha Tritt, Kyle (Kate) Tritt, Blair (Nicole) Tritt, Tricia (Ben) Trilling, Kevin (Meghan) Abraham, Amelia Abraham Twing (Tyler), Dylan Tritt, Derek Tritt and Brittany Tritt; great-grandchildren: Jacklynn, Maddy, Kassie, Abby, Oliver, Genevieve, Lilliana, Raelyn and Kensley; dear friends: Phyllis and Fern; and her faithful and loyal cat, Nuisance.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harland; her mother, Esther; her father, Rudolph; her step-father, Louis; her sister, Marilyn; and dear friends: Shirley Hintz, Audrey Rolph and Shirley Daily; and her faithful furry best friend, Sadie.

Our family extends a special thank you to Toodie's caregivers, Raechel, Laurie, Annie and Lori, who she loved dearly. Their compassionate care helped keep her home on the farm, where she wanted to be and gave our family the assurance that she had the best care possible. Much appreciation also goes to our hospice caregivers who guided us in her care.

At Toodie's request, a private service will be held for family and Toodie and Harland will be buried together in Oakhill Cemetery this summer.
