Obituary

Catherine L. "Molly" Jansen, 89, of Oshkosh peacefully passed into eternal life on Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at Bethel Home. She was born in Sturgeon Bay on December 26, 1919 to John and Louise (Bauer) Hengartner. She married Richard H. Jansen on July 20, 1944. Together they had six children and also raised their nephew, Thor, since his twelfth birthday.
Molly dedicated her life to serving the developmentally disabled; she strived to enrich the lives of these individuals. She started a religious program for the developmentally disabled, was also a volunteer at St. Vincent DePaul, active with RCDD, and a long time member at the YMCA.
She was salutatorian in her Corpus Christi High School graduating class and also at the St. Mary's School of Nursing in Green Bay. Molly worked as a nurse at St. Mary's Hospital. She was the first nurse hired at Bethel Home in Oshkosh and she also worked at Evergreen Manor for a few years.
Her family will miss her enthusiasm for life and service. Remembering her always will be her children: Judy (Jim) Fisher of Winneconne, Jeff (Mary) Jansen in New Mexico, Lynn Barthels of Oshkosh, Frank (Diana) Jansen in California, Robert (Tracey) Jansen in Texas, David Jansen of Oshkosh and Thor Laguna of Neenah; 18 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on November 18, 2004 along with her sisters, Lucille Homeyer, Dorothy Tess and Mildred Larsen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 19th, at Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, St. Mary site, 619 Merritt Avenue, Oshkosh. The Rev. James Jugenheimer will be the celebrant. Family and friends may gather at the church beginning at 9:00 a.m. She will rest at Sacred Heart Cemetery beside her beloved husband. Memorial contributions to the Special Care Unit at Bethel Home are appreciated. Deepest appreciation is extended by her family to the Hospice Advantage nurses and the wonderful staff of Bethel Home for their tender care and concern.
