Charlene S. Johnson, nee Stueckemann, age 83, passed away at her home in Bella Vista on Thursday, February 25, 2016. She was born in Chicago, IL on September 24, 1932 the daughter of the late Charles and Florence (Walter) Stueckemann. On Valentine's Day, February 14, 1952, she married Stanley Johnson in Park Ridge, IL. Charlene volunteered as a driver for Social Services for many years and took great care of Stan. Painting and playing Bridge were among her favorite activities. Charlene will be remembered for her dry and wicked sense of humor.
Charlene is survived by her children: Kurt (Peggy) Johnson of Oshkosh and Jill Johnson of New London; grandchildren: Matthew Mead, Derek (Kim) Johnson and Jamie (Jason) Rymer; six great-grandchildren: Lexi, Ethan, Natalie, Bennett, Everett and Milani. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Stan.
A celebration of Charlene's life will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2016 in the Atrium, second floor of Bella Vista, 631 Hazel St., Oshkosh, with Chaplain Jim Mallmann officiating. Friends are welcome to stay after the service for a pizza party. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Appleton at a later date.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff members at Bella Vista, Generations Hospice, the E.R. staff at Mercy, Dr. Kevin Andrasko and Right at Home for their tender and respectful care. Everyone went above and beyond.
Memorials in Charlene's name may be given directly to the American Cancer Society.
