Charles "Chuck" Albashian, age 89, passed away Dec. 7, 2010 at Webster Manor Facility Omro, WI. A long time resident of Omro, Chuck was born August 2, 1921 in South Milwaukee, WI, the son of Monoug (Michael) and Yepres Albashian. Chuck lived most of his life in the Omro area.
Chuck was a World War II veteran, PFC., having proudly served his Country four years in the Army from 1940 to 1944, where he participated in four beach heads. He received the Purple Heart, the Oak leaf cluster, and the Bronze Star, as well as many other awards, during his military service.
He married the love of his life, Theresa "Dolly" (Haire) Albashian, on October 20, 1945. She preceded him in death on September 26th , 2009. They raised five children together.
Throughout the years, Chuck had a variety of jobs, but especially enjoyed owning and operating "Chuck's Bait Shop" for twelve years in Omro, and later ten years in Auroraville, WI. He also worked for Realist Inc. in Berlin for ten years, retiring to his home in Eureka in 1986.
Chuck and Dolly like to travel in their RV to places such as Texas, California, and Missouri, when they were able. He enjoyed watching Packer games, going deer hunting, bowling, going on occasional gambling trips, and being an active member in VFW, American Legion, and DAV Post 17 meetings and activities. He also served as a DAV Post Chaplain. Chuck enjoyed helping to raise money during the holiday season for many organizations. One of his most memorable feats, at the young age of 88 years old, was to sky dive to help raise awareness in support of the Salvation Army.
Chuck had a love of cars, and having been a certified GM mechanic in his earlier days, enjoyed working on cars and engines, often repairing vehicles of relatives, friends, and neighbors.
Chuck is loved and will be dearly missed by his five children, Cheryl Ruck of Oshkosh, Carla (Tom) Anderson of San Jose, CA, Michael (Pam) Albashian of Omro, Colleen (Jim) Longworth of Oshkosh, and Connie (Tom) Schuster of Omro; grandchildren, Dan (Lori) Ruck, Becky Sattler, Tracey (Rado) Savova, Taryn Anderson, Ryan Albashian, Aaron Albashian, Chad (Jennie) Longworth, Jamie (Chris) Wright, Cody Fink, Casey Fink and Kayla Schuster; great grandchildren, Mitchell, Gabriella, Chelsea, Caleb, Luke, Drake, Bryce, Mattie, Austin, Leah, Lydia, and Cora Mae. He was predeceased by his wife, Dolly, a grandson Curtis, and great-grandson David.
In respect to Chuck's memory, the family will greet relatives and friends on Friday December 10, 2010 at the Kwiatkowski Funeral Home in Omro from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. with Fr. Tom McAlpine officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Lake View Memorial Park in Oshkosh.
