Charles R. "Chuck" Behnke, age 71, formerly of Oshkosh died Monday, May 11, 2015, at Hinsdale Advocate Hospital. He was born in Oshkosh to Dr. Charles and Dorothy (Panay) Behnke, then resided there as a child growing up. After serving honorably in the US Army, he graduated from Milton College, then went to Northern Illinois University for his Masters degree. Chuck was employed as an audiologist at Hines VA Hospital in Chicago for his entire career. He resided in Clarendon Hills, then Darien, IL, while continuing to spend much of his free time in his childhood home of Oshkosh. Chuck supported many charities, Cerebral Palsy of the Midwest, Bethel Home, Paine Art Center, and helping children around the world with their education.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by many dear friends. Visitation for Chuck will be held at St. Andrew Ev. Lutheran Church, 1100 E. Murdock Ave., Oshkosh, on Monday, May 18, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Karen Jewell officiating. Chuck will be laid to rest next to his parents at Lake View Memorial Park. A Memorial Service to honor Chuck's life, will be held at a later date at the United Methodist Church in Downers Grove. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Paine Art Center and Gardens, 1410 Algoma Blvd., Oshkosh.
