Obituary

Charles E. Drayna, age 82, of Oshkosh died Wednesday at All About Life Rehabilitation Center in Fond du Lac. He was born April 1, 1926 in Superior to the late Stephen and Bertha (Hoyden) Drayna. Charles was a graduate of Cathedral High School in Superior and Superior State College and received his Master's Degree from Indiana University. He served overseas in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a Navigator and Radio Operator on military aircraft. Prior to retirement, he spent most of his career as an administrator for the Oshkosh Area School District as Director of Recreation.

Charles married Inez Sullivan of Iron Belt, WI and she preceeded him in death on April 3, 1994. He married Fay Penzenstadler of Oshkosh on January 14, 1997 in Lena. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks, VFW, Wisconsin Park and Recreation Association - Past President, and the National Park and Recreation Association. Charles was also a member of the UW Superior Athletic Hall of Fame and the Oshkosh Softball Hall of Fame and various heritage societies. He had been a marathon runner and held a private pilot's license.

Charles is survived by his wife Fay of Oshkosh; son: Stephen (Mary) of Oshkosh; grandchildren: Marnie (Joseph) Owen of Madison, Cameron McFarland of Oshkosh, and Catherine Drayna of Oshkosh; brother: Roger (Marcella) Drayna of Wausau, brother-in-law: Earl Bracket of Pence, WI; step-sons: Charles Kunz and William (Trish) Kunz both of Oshkosh; step-grandson: Aaron Kunz of Oshkosh; sister-in-law: Janet (Steve) Wissink of Pickett, brother-in-law: Lee (Sue) Penzenstadler of Kansas. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will take place at 11:30 A.M. on Friday, December 19, 2008 at the St. Josaphat site of Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, 133 Walnut Street, with Father James Jugenheimer officiating. Visitation will take place at the church Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park.
