Clarence E. Schroeder, age 80, of Oshkosh, died Tuesday evening, January
19, 2010 at Bethel Home. Born on March
21, 1929, in Oshkosh to Edward and Marie (Duescher) Schroeder, Clarence married
Dorothy Schmidt on September 22, 1956 in Oshkosh. Dorothy preceded Clarence in death on April
28, 2006.
Employed by Chicago Northwestern Railroad, Clarence was a Track Inspector
Supervisor until his retirement, in
1990, after 44 years. During the Korean War, he served in the U.S.
Army from January 1951 to January 1953. A
long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church and Grace Forever Young, Clarence
enjoyed walking, hunting, fishing and time spent in his vegetable garden.
Left to mourn his passing is a daughter, Sharon Schroeder of Oshkosh; a
son, Michael Schroeder of Oshkosh; four sisters: Grace (Carl) Strum of Oshkosh,
Arline (Ralph) Hoeft of Oshkosh, Shirley (Gordon) Roeder of Waupun, and Joyce
(William) Krepline of Hilbert; four brothers: David (Dorothy) Schroeder of
Oshkosh, Robert (Colleen) Schroeder of Oshkosh, Richard Schroeder of Oshkosh,
and John (Bonnie) Schroeder of Oshkosh;
three brothers-in-law: Oscar Leichtuss, of Oshkosh, Kenneth Stadler of
Oshkosh, and Richard Schmidt of Honolulu, Hawaii; and many nieces and
nephews. Preceding Clarence in death is
his wife; a son, Timothy Schroeder; his parents; four sisters: Alvina Stadler,
Delores Reckelberg, Betty Leichtfuss, and Catherine Schaffer; and an infant
brother, Jerry Schroeder.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 12:00 Noon
in Grace Lutheran Church, 913 Nebraska Street, with Reverend Chad Graham officiating. Interment will take place in Peace Lutheran
Cemetery. A time of visitation and
sharing of memories will be held Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of
services. A memorial in Clarence's
memory is being established by his family.
