Obituary

Clifford "Speed" Demler age 87 of Oshkosh, died Thursday morning August 17, 2006 at Alterra Sterling House. He was born on June 16, 1919 in Oshkosh, the son of John and Louise (Pechman) Demler. Clifford married Dorothy Zentner, his wife of 64 years, on April 11, 1942 in Oshkosh.

Clifford was employed by Heiss Bakery for many years and then, after 20 years, retired from Georgia Pacific Corp. He was a WWII Army Veteran with the Military Police serving overseas in North Africa. He was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife: Dorothy of Oshkosh; two brothers: Albert Demler and Richard (Lenora) Demler of Oshkosh; and five sisters: Genevieve Brans of Omro, Rosemary Wietz, Margaret Volkman, and Marcella (Herb) Ziebell of Oshkosh, and Marie Dickey of Fond du Lac. Clifford was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Joseph, Robert, Harry, and John Demler; two sisters: Cecilia Eichman and Betty Gerth.

Funeral services for Clifford will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, August 21, 2006, at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 1306 Michigan Street, with Reverend R. David Gaskill officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation and support at the church on Monday from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
