Obituary
Daniel (Dan) Nelson Karns passed away from his battle with Esophageal Cancer September 10, 2016 in the early hours in his sleep while at home with his wife and son. Dan was born December 30, 1961 in Owensboro, KY to parents of Charles and Geraldine Karns of Oshkosh, WI. He was the 3rd child of 4 boys.
He grew up in San Diego playing little league baseball and bowling. Then moved to Oshkosh with his parents in 1978. He worked various job until he found his niche as a House Siding Contractor in 1990 for 26 years right up until he got sick.
His passion was for his family, baseball, football (specifically Miami Dolphins/Dan Marino), bowling, golf, and being outside. He was Bowler of the Year for Oshkosh Mens Bowling Association for 1991-1992 with a 300 game, 800 series, and many 700 series. He enjoyed bowling on the same team with his father and brothers for many years; golfing and also played slow and fast pitch as well.
He is survived by his wife Sandy (Benedum) of 26 years. They met at T&O through a couples bowling league in 1986. They were married May 12, 1990. He is also survived by his son Alex and daughter Staci and step children: Virgil Myers, Thalia (Tim) Kloehn, Marsha (Jake) Schneider; four grandchildren: Autumn Kloehn, Caleb Schneider, Emmy Schneider, and Wesley Kloehn; mother: Gerry, three brothers: Mark, Kevin, and Paul (Connie); sister-in-law Cathy Jo (Gary) Jansen; Aunts: Marge Jordan, Karen Dorr, Delores Kruse; nieces and nephews: Kristopher (Sarah), Kimberly (Nick)Ryf, Mathew Jensen, Kayla, Abbey, Jacob, Meghan Jansen, Marissa Jansen; and great nephews Arjen, and Ailan; and great nieces: Karolyna Ryf, Stella Ryf; and many dear and loving friends.
Preceded in death by his father, Charles Karns; and in-laws Don and Joan Benedum.
He will be remembered as a tremendously loving husband, brother, son, father, grandfather, and great uncle. He was a kind and big hearted friend to many.
The memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Seefeld Funeral Home. Family and Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday, September 16, 2016 from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. (Burial to be determined).
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Dan's name is being established.
