Obituary

Daniel John Lain, age 58, a life-long resident of Oshkosh, died Thursday evening, January 31, 2008 at Northpoint Medical & Rehabilitation Center. He was born on December 15, 1949 in Oshkosh to Donald and Josephine (Johnson) Lain. Dan was employed by Rogge's Foods in Omro as a maintenance mechanic. He was previously employed by Counts Bus Company and Garvins Bus Company.

Dan leaves behind the love of his life, Cheryl Fischer of Oshkosh; two children, Jesse (Tori) Lain and Sarah Lain both of Oshkosh, and their mother, Susan Lain, of Oshkosh; three grandchildren, Suzette Lain, Maya Lain, and Dean Radke; brothers, Jere (Cheryl) Lain of Oshkosh, James (Judie) Lain of Appleton, David Lain of Waupaca, Richard Lain of Madison, his sister, Jeannine Lain of Cross Plains; a sister-in-law, Sharon Lain of Green Bay; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Dan in death are both his parents and one brother, Joel Lain.

"Dan the Man" was a kind and gentle soul. He was loved by children and adults alike, for he was always approachable. Dan was ready and willing to help with all projects, and his work ethic was impeccable-he took such deep satisfaction in a job well done. This served him well in his long, talented career as a mechanic and maintenance technician.

Dan and Cheryl were in their element when they were spending time in the great outdoors and did so at every opportunity at their trailer near Wilson Lake. Danny leaves a deep mark on everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed by those who loved him.
