Darrel Dean Huntington, age 83, passed away on March 20, 2016, in Green Bay. Darrel was born on September 26, 1932, to Glen and Alleane (Bruhn) Huntington. He married Roberta Rice in July, 1956, and she preceded him in death in 2013. In their 56 years of marriage, they enjoyed many vacations together around the world. Darrel graduated high school in DeSoto, WI, and served his country in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He went on to enjoy a career in the aircraft industry, including 27 years at KC Aviation in Appleton. In his spare time Darrel was a master craftsman and enjoyed model airplanes.
He is survived by his children: Alan (Debbie) Huntington, and Carol (Greg) Hensel; grandchildren: Allison (fiancée Grant Schlader) Huntington, and Abigail (Jeremy) Schumann; a great granddaughter, Callie Schumann; a sister, Shirley Sitter; four sisters-in-law: Beverly (Rich) Kastenschmidt, Barb (Everett) Fancher Servais, Elizabeth (Larry) Bathke, and Jane (Jerry) Zeroth; a brother-in-law, Robert Jr (Ursula) Rice; and many nieces and nephews. Darrel was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta; his parents; brother-in-law, Gerald Sitter; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Robert and Betty Rice; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William and Mari Walker; and brother-in-law, Jack Fancher.
A private burial will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in LaCrosse, WI. His family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at Allouez-Parkside Village in Green Bay, as well as Heartland Hospice, for their wonderful care of Darrel over the years.
