Surrounded by family and friends, David Banta passed peacefully at home on December 2, 2015, after a long and courageous battle with multiple health problems. David was born in Neenah on June 23, 1949. David began High School at Shattuck Military School and graduated from Menasha High School in 1968. He graduated from UW-Madison in 1972 with a bachelor's' degree in fine arts. David's passion was building furniture, electric guitars, and remodeling his dream home near Lake Butte des Morts. David and his wife and soul mate, Elaine, lived in "The House that David Built" for 30 plus years. This home was the heart of many gatherings for family and friends – creating many memories for years to come: Christmases in July and December, graduations and birthdays were just some of the occasions celebrated. David will be missed by family and friends.David is loved and will be missed by his wife, Elaine of Omro; daughters, Kristin (Dave) Banta Kasper of Oshkosh, Emily Banta of Neenah; his extended family, Jody (Chad) Oesterreich of Neenah, Dawn (Dalbert) Shaw of Alexandria, VA, Michele (Bruce) Enk of Las Vegas, NV; brother, Robert (Lisa) Banta of Boulder, CO; sister, Ginger Banta Michel of Stanford, CT; 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, George Banta III and his mother, Virginia Jensen Banta.The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Saturday, December 5, 2015, from 12:00, Noon until the time of the Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m.In lieu flowers, donations can be made in David's honor to Valley VNA Health Systems, Inc., 1535 Lyon Drive, Neenah, WI 54956.
