Obituary

David Edson Dudley, originally from Burlington, Wisconsin and more recently Oshkosh, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 14, 2005. He was born to Sherman and Cornelia Dudley in Burlington on February 21, 1916. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Foster and Charles Dudley.

David attended Beloit College and graduated from the University of Arizona with a bachelor's degree in 1939. He started work in Escanaba, Michigan where he met his dear wife Kathleen of 66 years, who continues to reside at Evergreen Retirement Community. His work experience continued at Frank Holton Music Instrument Company in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, followed by many years in the banking industry in Burlington. Initially his banking career was with the family bank business, the Meinhardt Bank, subsequently with the Marine Bank, and finally at the Bank of Burlington. He was a member of the Burlington Kiwanis Club and Plymouth Congregational Church in Burlington as well as the First Congregational Church in Oshkosh. Before moving to Oshkosh, David and Kathleen enjoyed travel to Hawaii, Alaska, Scandinavia, France, Germany, Ireland, and Canada.

In retirement he enjoyed his time in Oshkosh and is fondly remembered by his wife, Kathleen and his sons James Bodette Dudley, JD, a recently retired judge who presided in Annapolis and Columbia, Maryland, and Stephen Sherman Dudley, MD, who practices ophthalmology in Oshkosh and the surrounding Northeast Wisconsin. David is also survived by Jim's son: Bradley, Steve's sons: Matthew and Thomas, and six great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held for family and friends at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, December 9, 2005, at Evergreen Chapel, officiated by Reverend Ralph DiBiasio-Snyder of First Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Evergreen Care Assurance Fund or the Oshkosh Area Humane Society.
