David G. Martin, age 59, of Oshkosh, died Wednesday morning, April 8, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center. Born on September 16, 1949 in Oshkosh to John and Mildred (Graper) Martin, Dave married Diana Mertz on October 30, 1982 in Oshkosh.
A well-known bartender and waiter for Ratch & Deb's for 18 years, Dave's personality allowed him to make friends throughout Oshkosh. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, an avid Packer fan, enjoyed camping with family, watching Del Worsham and NFRA Drag Racing, and playing a good game of billiards. He served his country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Dave was a loving husband and wonderful brother, the type everyone should have in their life.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife, Diana Martin of Oshkosh; brothers and sisters, Shareen Halvorson of Springfield, Minnesota, John (Joan) Martin II of Muskego, Wisconsin, and Marilyn (Richard) Siegler of Manitowoc; his mother-in-law, Mary Mertz of Oshkosh; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tony (Michele) Mertz of Oshkosh, Paul (Gaye) Mertz of Redgranite, Teddy Mertz of Oshkosh, Chris Mertz of Oshkosh, and JoAnn Mertz of Oshkosh; and many nieces and nephews also survive. Preceding Dave in death are his parents and his father-in-law, Richard Mertz.
