David Henry Pflanzer, age 70 of Oshkosh passed away on Monday, March 12, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. He was born May 7, 1941 in Ashland, Wisconsin to Frank and Martha (Zier) Pflanzer. On August 26, 1967, he married Lucille Schultz in Christ Lutheran Church of Oshkosh.
For over 28 years David worked for the United Parcel Service (UPS) and during that time he had over 25 years of safe driving making him a member of the Circle of Honor. An avid bowler, he was on many leagues throughout the area, he loved bowling with his sons at the national bowling tournament and with his buddies in California, John, Big Dave, Rocky, Deo, and Jim. Dave also enjoyed fishing, golfing, deer hunting with his father-in-law and son Raymond. Dave and Lucy enjoyed going on yearly vacations with Vic and Bev Bethke for 44 years and playing dart ball for many years with Al and Jeanne Lind. He was a former member of Redeemer Lutheran church where he was a Trustee, on the church counsel and an usher. Dave was also Godfather to Adam Carriveau, Cody Carriveau and Diane Bumgarner.
Those left to cherish Dave's memory include, his wife, Lucille "Lucy" of Oshkosh; sons, Raymond (Shawnna) of Goleta, California, Steven of Oshkosh; grandson, Zane Henry Pflanzer. He is further survived by his siblings: Carl (Patricia) of Chesapeake, Virginia, Lois (Joseph) Bochinski of Oshkosh, Judy Bumgarner of North Fond du Lac; sister-in-law, Virginia Pflanzer of Appleton and several nieces, nephews and good friends. Dave was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank, Gerald, Eugene and father and mother-in-law, Henry and Adeline Schultz.
Funeral service for Dave will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2450 W. 9th Avenue with Reverend Roger Erdman officiating. The family will greet friends at church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation and sincere gratitude to the doctors and staff of Aurora Medical Center, St. Elizabeth Hospital and Pastor Roger Erdman for the compassionate care and attention that was given to Dave.
