Obituary

David Harold Reichenberger, 56, of Oshkosh, passed away unexpectedly at home on June 25th, 2024.

He was born at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Arizona on May 4th, 1968, to Michael Reichenberger and Julie Brooks. Dave was a 1986 graduate of Oshkosh Lourdes High School, where he was a wrestler and football player.

He married his wife of 32 years, Ann Born, on September 21, 1991, who he adored until his last day. He earned an undergraduate degree from UW-Milwaukee and a Master's degree from UW-Oshkosh. He had a passion for teaching and was beloved by his students at Appleton East High School, where he taught math for 27 years.

Dave had a keen sense of humor and an infectious laugh. Each day he wore a sweater vest to school and told a joke before class, each of which his students found funny (jokes sometimes; vests often). He mentored many youths throughout his life as a teacher, Cub Scout leader and a softball and wrestling coach. He loved sports and shared that love with friends and family, religiously following the Packers, Brewers and Badgers, and spending many summer afternoons golfing. He loved cooking and was an accomplished chef, having worked at numerous restaurants as a cook prior to becoming a teacher. His steaks and knife skills were legendary.

He loved his family and friends, and he was well loved by them. He could always be counted on to lend a hand or share a laugh (or a beer). Some of his greatest memories were spending time with his family and friends, traveling, hunting, and trout camp each May with the guys.

Dave is survived by his wife, Ann Reichenberger; sons, Zach (Emma) and Ike Reichenberger; mother, Julie Brooks; sister, Lisa (Rob) Kallas: along with nieces, nephews, relatives, and many friends, some of them lifelong. He was preceded in death by his father, Mike Reichenberger.

A time of visitation will be held at Seefeld Funeral Home,1025 Oregon St., Oshkosh on July 13th, from 12pm to 3pm, with a eulogy by his sons at 1:30pm, followed by the opportunity for friends and family to speak if they wish. Family and friends are invited to gather for a Celebration of Life at The Elks Lodge, 175 Fernau Ave, Oshkosh, from 3pm to 8pm following the visitation.

And one more thing . . . Dave, you will be incredibly missed by all who knew you.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a tax-deductible donation to the American Heart Association in Dave's honor at www.heart.org.
