Deanna J. Schmidt, age 68, of Oshkosh, died Sunday, May 25, 2008 at her home, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, with her children beside her. She was born on July 11, 1939 in North Fond du Lac to Minot Culver and Ethel Emma Augusta Ecker-Culver-Ladwig. Deanna married Milo "Buzz" Schmidt at the Church of Peace in Fond du Lac on February 6, 1960 and he preceded her in death on February 15, 2007.


Deanna was a North Fond du Lac High School graduate of 1957. She was employed as an office manager for Dr. Thomas Rozum in Oshkosh and was later employed by Fox Cities Dermatology. She was an avid flower gardener, enjoyed crocheting, jogging, playing in racquetball leagues, being the hostess at family holidays, socializing with close friends, and was an ardent Green Bay Packer fan. Deanna had an irreverent sense of humor which was a trademark of her personality.


Left to mourn her passing is a son, Scot (Lauri Lumby) Schmidt and a daughter, Debbie Addis, both of Oshkosh; three grandchildren, Heather Addis, Maggie Schmidt, and Wil Schmidt; brothers and sisters in law, Darrell (Marilyn) Schmidt and Carol (Gerald) Hintze, both of Oshkosh; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding Deanna in death are her husband, parents, three brothers, Jim, Leroy, and Bob; two sisters, Dona and Jean; and a dear recently deceased friend, Barbara Hetzel.


A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. in Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street. A gathering time for family and friends to remember Deanna's life will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Following the service, a time of fellowship and sharing of memories will continue at the Oshkosh Elk's Lodge #292, 175 W. Fernau Avenue.
