Delmar H. Hawkins, age 62, of Oshkosh, died Monday afternoon, October 24, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born on July 25, 1943 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to James and Virginia (Kelly) Hawkins. Delmar married Gladys Weiss on September 21, 1968 in Rock Falls, Wisconsin.
Delmar was employed by the UW-Oshkosh as a custodian at the time of his death. He was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church and the Oshkosh Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed gardening, dartball, hunting, and fishing.
Survivors include his wife: Gladys Hawkins of Oshkosh; two daughters: Karen Engelman of Menasha; and Michelle Hawkins of Neenah; two sons: Darrell Hawkins and Eric Hawkins both of Oshkosh; two grandsons: Jeffrey and Jacob; two sisters: Gwen Barneson of Eleva, Wisconsin; and LaVonne Thompson of Mondovi, Wisconsin; six brothers: Byron Hawkins of Eau Claire; Albert (Carol) Hawkins of Minnesota; Wesley (Marion) Hawkins of Iowa; Robert (Carole) Hawkins of Osseo, Wisconsin; Willis (Jean) Hawkins of Osseo; and Donald (Sue) Hawkins of Eau Claire; nieces, nephews, cousins, and other dear friends. Preceding Delmar in death are his parents and three brothers: Joseph, James, and Marvin Hawkins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 28, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Raphael Catholic Church, 830 South Westhaven Drive, with Reverend Carl Schmitt officiating. Interment will follow the service at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. A time of visitation and support will be held Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also support the family on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Delmar's family is establishing a memorial.
