Obituary

Denese E. (Wabnitz) Redlin was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 24, 2007.

Denese was born on June 2, 1925 in Oshkosh, WI to Carl and Velva Wabnitz. She attended school at Merrill School in Oshkosh and was active on their student paper, The Merrill Mirror. She graduated from Oshkosh High School and took a job as a bookkeeper at Georgia Pacific in Oshkosh. Denese worked very hard on her parents' rural Omro farm as well as at her bookkeeping job. She married Ira Redlin Jr. on October 4, 1947. Together, they had six children. After divorcing, Denese raised her six children as a single parent while working full time to support her family. She worked at Standard Kohlsman, Miles Kimball, and the Ripon Cookie Factory for many years. In 1967, she received her nursing assistant training at Parkview Health Center in Oshkosh. Denese worked hard and was a compassionate, caring caregiver to her patients. She worked at Parkview until she retired in 1986.

Denese was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren and made it a point to attend their school athletic games, concerts, banquets, and church events. After retiring, Denese lived independently in her own home in Omro. She enjoyed sewing clothing and knitting hundreds of slippers for her children and grandchildren. Denese loved to read, work jigsaw puzzles, listen to country music, and of course, family events and "get togethers." "Grandma's House" a.k.a. "Ma's Place" was a common meeting place for her family and their friends. She always made sure there were chocolate chip cookies in the cookie jar! In November 2002, Denese became a resident of The Lutheran Home of Fond du Lac due to her declining health. She was lovingly cared for by many special nurses and nursing assistants at the Lutheran Home. Denese had a very strong Christian faith and was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Omro for 47 years.

Denese was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Phyllis Matulle; brother, Loren "Bud" Wabnitz; sister-in-law, June Binder; parents-in-law, Ira and Madola Redlin; and her infant grandson, Chad Kies. Denese is survived by the pride and joy of her life: Her children: Ray (Helene) Redlin of Butte des Mortes, Peter (Joan) Redlin of Pickett, Stan (Linda) Redlin of Omro, Sally (Mark) Sanders of Berlin, Susan Koon of Omro, and Donna (Bill) Kies of Oshkosh. Her grandchildren: Russell (Claudia) Redlin, Guy (Kim) Redlin, Jason Redlin, Wendy (Dan) Buehring, Courtney (Ryan) Goehring, Corinne (special friend Ben) Redlin, Tara (Rick) Schiessl, Clint (Erin) Sanders, Joshua (fiancé Ashley) Koon, Leah Koon, Alissa and Heather Kies. Her great-grandchildren: Angela Redlin, Ben Buehring, Riley Redlin, Evan Schiessl, and Isaac Koon. She is further survived by her brother, John (Patricia) Wabnitz of Oshkosh, brothers-in-law, Marvin (Donna) Matulle, Donald (Marion) Binder, and sisters-in-law, June Williams and Iris (Earl) Busse, her many nieces and nephews, her close friend Elaine Kleinschmidt, as well as other friends.

Denese's family wishes to thank the loving and caring staff of the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home for the excellent care and "home" provided for Denese while she resided there. We also wish to extend our thanks to Pastors Brogaard and Mundinger for their visits and prayers, and Caring Ministries of Grace Church for their many cards.

There will be a Memorial Service to celebrate Denese's life at Grace Lutheran Church, 720 Jackson Ave. in Omro on Thursday, March 29, 2007 at 7:00 P.M. with Rev. Paul Mundinger officiating. Friends may call at the church on Thursday starting at 4:00 P.M. Denese will be laid to rest at Lake View Memorial Park in Oshkosh.
